Tongyeong International Music Festival Foundation was established in March, 2002 with the principal missions; to contribute to the development of the culture & arts in Korea and the world by uprasing a small port town, Tongyeong to the world's famous music festival city, and to promote stable growth of the festival through continuous cultural & arts exchange with foreign countries around the world.

The Foundation is governed by a Board of Directors, which is chaired by the Foundation's Chairman, late Dr. Seong-Yawng Park(Honorary Chairman, Kumho Asiana Group), and is consisted of an Honorary Chairman(Euy-Jang Jin, Mayor of Tongyeong City) and directors, including permanent and non-permanent directors representing various sectors of Korean society. The Board is responsible for all major decisions related to the Foundation's events and budget allocation.
