The year of 2006 is embracing another new season! Tongyeong International Music Festival celebrates its 5th year by opening Spring Season between March 21(Tues.) through 26(Sun.).
TIMF 2006 now adapts the pioneering theme of 'FLUX' inspired by 'Fluktuationen', Isang Yun's work composed in 1964, while concentrating on this year's world-wide fanaticism towards Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's 250th anniversary of birth and Dmitri Shostakovich's 100th anniversary of birth.
Forging far from the legendary dawn to the challenging twilight of music history, the soul and spirit of 3 geniuses come strike the heart of Tongyeong and Hansan Island shyly facing South Sea. The impression and thrill dashingly come forth, being derived from Wolfgang's, Dmitri's, and Isang's artistic minds ever paddling through the tides of time and music.
Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra with Yuri Simonov, Countertenor David DQ Lee, Canadian Brass, Salta Cello, AbsoluTrio, and Byungki Hwang …… All of those glamorous artists will arrive to Tongyeong along with high-end reputation throughout continents and generations, grazing a new challenging field of music filled with aspirations of aesthetic renewal as virtuosity.
Musiktheater "ROSE" ㅡ This virginally introduced opening performance of this Spring Season, will bring forth a brand-new era of sophisticated disputes over newly found possibilities to combine heterogeneous genre of music, play, production arts, and motion picture.
Come hail all of them and enjoy your-every-selves! The second last week of March 2006 will be remembered as the foremost season of music festival celebrating beauty of Korea and virtuosos of music.
