Preliminary Stage (15-25 minutes)
|
- Recording of applicant's performance with a program of 15 to 25 minutes in length.
- The repertoire should include either one Early Sonata such as C. P. E. Bach, L. Boccherini, P. A. Locatelli, and G. Valentini, or one Virtuoso Piece such as D. Popper, C. Davidoff, and J. Francaix.
- The program must not include such works as to be presented in the following phase of the competition.
- If the repertoire includes concerto(s), the cellist may be accompanied by a pianist.
* As for Early Sonata, the original edition is preferred but it is not enforced, because it may not be
applied to a specific composer.

First Stage (25-30 minutes)
|
| 1. J. S. Bach : Prelude and Saraband of 6 Suites for Cello,
No.4, No.5, and No.6
|
| 2. Isang Yun : "Leggiero" from Seven Etudes for Cello Solo (1993) |
| 3. One or more solo works without accompaniment at the competitor's choice |
|
|
|
|
Second Stage (40-45 minutes)
|
1. Isang Yun : "Glissées(1970)" for Cello Solo
or any contemporary work with minimum duration of 10 minutes,
which can be accompanied by piano
|
2. One or more works with or without accompaniment at the competitor's liberal choice, never failing to
exclude J.S. Bach's Suites for Cello
- There will be a special prize of KRW 2,000,000(about US$ 2,000) for the best interpretation of
Isang Yun's Glissées(1970).
- The repertoire of the second stage may be accompanied by piano when necessary.

Final Stage
|
| Each cellist will perform one concerto with orchestra chosen from the following list : |
1. R. Schumann : Concerto in a minor Op.129
2. E. Elgar : Concerto in e minor Op.85
3. D. Shostakovich : Concerto No.1
4. Isang Yun : Concerto (1975/76) for Cello and Orchestra

Rules and Procedures Relating to Repertoire
|
| 1. All works must be played through memory (except the pieces which were composed after 1950). |
| 2. Total duration of a performance, which will be strictly enforced, include applause and pauses.
The Jury retains the right to stop a performance if it exceeds the allotted time. |
3. Cellists must supply a copy of the edition of the score used in the preparation of each work
performed, to the Chairman of the Jury if requested. |
| 4. Changes in submitted repertoire or running order may be made only with permission of the
Competition. No changes will be accepted after September 16, 2006. Any proposed changes must include duration. |
