Preliminary Stage
|
- Recording of applicant's performance with a program of 15 to 25 minutes in length.
- The repertoire will consist of works chosen by the pianist, but the program must not include works
presented later in the competition. |

First Stage, 35 ~ 40 minutes
|
- Isang Yun: 5 Stücke für Klavier (1958) or Shao Yang Yin (1966, piano version)
- A Beethoven sonata (except Op. 7, 49 and 106)
- One or more works of the contestant's choice
|
|
|
|
|
Second Stage, 45 - 50 minutes
|
- Isang Yun Interludium A (1982), or a work composed after 1900 by any composer other than Debussy,
Rachmaninoff, Scriabin, Ravel (minimum length 10 minutes)
- The rest of the program is free and should reflect the contestant's inclinations, it must not include any
work by Beethoven.
* There will be a special prize of KRW3,000,000(about US$2,500 / sponsored by C.Bechstein) for the
best interpretation of Isang Yun's Interludium A.
* Contestants may be asked to revise their programs in case the length of works does not seem to
match the given time frame.
* Presenting a work in the category 20th century shorter than 10 minutes may lead to disqualification.

| - Each pianist will perform one concerto with orchestra chosen from the following list: |
1. W. A. Mozart: Piano Concerto No. 9 in E flat major, KV. 271
2. W. A. Mozart: Piano Concerto No. 20 in d minor, KV. 466
3. L. V. Beethoven: Piano Concerto No. 3 in c minor, Op. 37
4. L. V. Beethoven: Piano Concerto No. 4 in G major, Op. 58
5. R. Schumann: Piano Concerto in a minor, Op. 54
6. F. Chopin: Piano Concerto No. 1 in e minor, Op. 11
7. F. Chopin: Piano Concerto No. 2 in f minor, Op. 21
8. E. Grieg: Piano Concerto in a minor, Op.16
9. S. Rachmaninoff: Rhapsody on a Theme by Paganini Op. 43
10. B. Bartók: Piano Concerto No. 3 in E major (completed by Tibor Serly), Sz. 119, BB 127

Rules and Procedures Relating to Repertoire
|
1. Total duration of a performance, which will be strictly enforced, include applause and pauses.
The Jury retains the right to stop a performance if the pianist exceeds the allotted time. Repeats are
at the discretion of the pianist. |
2. Pianists must supply a copy of the edition of the score used in the preparation
of each work performed to the Chairman of the Jury, if requested. |
3. Changes in submitted repertoire or running order may be made only with permission of the Competition.
No changes will be accepted after September 17, 2005. Any proposed changes must include duration. |
