Ensemble TIMF was founded in 2001 as an ambassador of publicity for Tongyeong International Music Festival with a hope to establish a professional performing group that could represent contemporary music of Korea. Since its foundation, the Ensemble has shown performing skills of high quality and extended its stage abroad from the year 2003. The Ensemble not only plays those familiar music pieces but premieres new works by Korean composers. Its diverse repertoire ranges from classical to contemporary music and the Ensemble has been marked for its contribution to increasing contemporary music listeners and enthusiasts.

Ensemble TIMF consists of Professor Uzong Choe and other young performers who actively perform both nationally and internationally. Uzong Choe, Artistic Director studied composition at Seoul National University, Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst Mozarteum in Salzburg and Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris. He was also awarded at Gaudeamus International Composition Concours, ISCM International Contemporary Music Festival and so on.
Ensemble TIMF has participated in Tongyeong International Music Festival since 2001 and appeared at the concert with Ensemble Modern & Heinz Holliger, the Ligeti Project, the periodical concerts that commemorate Master of contemporary music, Luciano Berio and so on, making its stages not only in Tongyeong but in Seoul as well. In 2004, the Ensemble performed at the Kagel Project in Tongyeong International Music Festival and Hoam Art Hall in Seoul, Concerto Night: Ensemble TIMF with Pianist Hyung Joon Chang, Special Christmas Concert with Ensemble TIMF, etc. In 2005, Ensemble TIMF is scheduled to concertize with composer Steve Reich and perform at the opening concert of Tongyeong International Music Festival 2005 Autumn Season.

Ensemble TIMF is developing its repertoire of diversity and bringing more attention to contemporary music. The Ensemble extends its stages to Asia and more, bridging Tongyeong and the rest of the world as a musical diplomat. Since 2003, Ensemble TIMF has been invited to several contemporary music festivals that hold significant meaning and position in New Music. After the successful first concert in international stage as an invited guest orchestra at the Opening of Romania's Bacau Contemporary Music Days, Ensemble TIMF has played an important role of not only distinguishing itself as an expert of New Music but also drawing international attention to the current New Music in Korea. Ensemble TIMF had its concerts in Darmstadt International Music Festival under Maestro Rüdiger Bohn(musical director of the Zeitgenössischen Oper Berlin), performing the new work of German composer Hans Thomalla, who had been acknowledged as a winner of Kranichsteiner Music Award 2004 for his extraordinary achievements in the subjects of interpretation and composition, and the world premiers of Korean composers, Eun-Hwa Cho and Nam-Kuk Kim. Most recently, the ensemble has been invited to the prestigious contemporary music festival, the 48th Warsaw Autumn 2005 and The 25th ACL World New Music Conference and Festival held by Asian Composers League.
